Pros and cons of Telnet Lite app for iPhone and iPad
Telnet Lite app good for
You can scroll the screen up/down and left/right to see text outside the current iPhone screen space which is nice because your terminal text maintains its proper line width. I wouldnt want to use it in place of a laptop, but in a pinch or for light duty this is a real blessing. Thanks!
If you need to use telnet to open a terminal to some other box and you only have an iPad, this is a good tool to do exactly what you need.
The only limitations I can think of is the keyboard imposed by apple iPad that doesnt easily allow ctrl button to be added.
Works Better then I even thought it would. Great job. May concider the paid version.
Awesome interface, great templates option, nice fonts, no advertisement. 5 stars!
I you study at the UPR in Rio Piedras, this is just great. Replacing TeraTerm in PC by being mobile.
I mud at a site called actofwar. I tried using imud which was unreliable and a couple other cheap clients. For people who like to mud this is the best free/or cheap telnet client ive used for mudding thats less than 2 dollars. Havent tried the more expensive ones yet, but as a client this works for me.
Some bad moments
Cant seem to even get a to send to the server. Poor and clumsy implementation.
Crashes repeatedly when trying to connect to my cisco router. Needs an update because it is unusable now.
I havent been able to get past the connect screen. Its just frozen. I have updated to 3.0. So maybe its not compatible? Either why I give it the lowest rating for not even starting. Update please!!!
If you want a terminal that has hundreds of libs. And a telnet cliet that actually works. Jailbrake and get that and istall the telnet package. Oh and it actually works.. And this one doesnt. Work even let me input my commands.
I am looking elsewhere. I wanted to use this at work, but it wont even let me enter my log in.
Lots of people have commented on the functionality. I agree. So let me address the support in general for this, or the paid version.
Mocha has a history of dumping applications onto the market and then not supporting or updating them. The purchaser is willing to live with the problems because he presumes it will only get better as updates are released. But before long he realizes there arent going to be any. Thats what happened when I bought Mocha VNC for the Mobile Windows platform years ago. And if you look at the release dates of the their iPhone apps, you see the same thing. This app has not been updated in over a year.
Really? There is not even the tiniest problem that they could address in the last year to improve functionality for their customers? Now check the release dates for similar apps. My advice it to never buy an app that hasnt been updated in the last six months or year. The iPhone market is still young and growing fast. All developers should still be in a growth phase, trying to polish and expand what they offer. Customers are willing to live with a lack of features or occasional crashes as long as they believe the software will improve over time. This did not happen when I bought Mocha VNC years ago, and I dont see it happening on the iPhone platform either.
Look at the release dates for Mocha VNC, Mocha Telnet, Mocha Remote Desktop, TN5250, and TN3270. They are all a year old. No bug fixes or feature enhancements for ANY of their programs in a year? I recommend that in every category, compare to other developers and buy from whoever is actively developing.
